Volunteer!

PhotoPG Retreat is an all volunteer organization.

We are a community of families, with committed parents and kids who give generously of their time and energy to create something very special.

People make the time to pitch in because PG Retreat is that important to them (read our Testimonials to learn why).

All families are expected to contribute in a significant way at least once every three years.

Rather than a catered banquet by professionals, PG Retreat is more of a potluck dinner put together by our member families.

We are looking for "apprentice" or shadow volunteers for some positions every year - so there are no surprises the next year when there is a transition. In fact, we typically identify volunteers a year to two ahead, so that you can assist a position, before you lead a particular position or committee.

What Kind of Volunteer Help is Needed?

All kinds of things.

A small team of volunteer organizers is busy working on plans for the next PG Retreats, and your input is appreciated.

Do you have good ideas or contacts for leaders of workshops and activities? Are you interested in sustainability and recycling? Can you help lead a session at PG Retreat? Do you have ideas about speakers or programs for adults you'd like us to consider? Can you bring games or toys for our Gathering Space at the next retreat?

Parents also help maintain the PG Retreat community throughout the year. Volunteers serve on our Board of Directors, helping to shape PG Retreat into a strong organization for now and the future. Volunteers plan the program year to year, manage registrations and finances, help to  maintain this Web site, and more.  Join us!

Volunteering During the Retreats

At the Retreats (or any other event organized by PGR members), we need everyone to chip in to help all the activities flow smoothly.

Parents take turns monitoring the Gathering Space, a place where both parents and kids can come and go freely for conversation, games, snacks, and other activities. Parents help monitor the common spaces for middle and older kids.  Parents are needed to help carry in supplies and set up rooms. All kids' sessions need parents to assist as necessary. And we all belong to a Village that watches over all our children at the Retreat.

Come, participate, and reap the many benefits of PG Retreat for your family.

And please share your special talents, your time, and your energy so that PG Retreat will be an experience you'll never forget, one that will keep you coming back year after year.
